The SoundSpa is the Homedics trademark for their sound machine range.
The current Homedics SoundSpa range consists of eight models although there are still older discontinued
models being sold in the marketplace.
The current Homedics SoundSpa models, in order from basic model to top-of-the-range, are:
The Homedics SoundSpa SS-2000 is the smallest and simplest unit of the range. It features six
sounds (ocean, summer night, rain, rain forest, waterfall, heartbeat). It can also be powered by batteries as well
as mains power. It is also the most compact so you could consider taking it with you when you
travel. It retails for about $19.99, a solid investment.
The SoundSpa Lullaby is designed for the nursery. It features three sounds (rain, ocean
and heartbeat) as well as three lullabies (Twinkle Twinkle, Rock-A-Bye-Baby and Cradle Song). It also features a
projector that will display pictures of fish, stars and animals from the three supplied image discs. This fine
machine retails for around $19.99.
The SoundSpa Classic introduces an alarm clock radio into the unit as well as offering six
sounds. It also has a projector that displays the time on the ceiling so that you can more easily see the time
during the night. This is an impressive set of features for such a low-cost unit. Bear in mind that you may find
it less expensive than the recommended retail price of $29.99 if you shop around. Retails price,
$39.99. Click here for more information!
The SoundSpa Premier has a distinctive design. It takes the shape of a upright disc. It
builds on the feature set from the previous model, and adds several impressive additional features: an optional
atomic time feature that will automatically set the correct time and make adjustments for daylight savings as
needed, indoor and outdoor temperature measurement using a remote sensor, dual alarms and battery or mains
operation. Similar pricing as the SoundSpa Classic, this ones goes for $39.99 - Choose wisely!
The SoundSpa Sunrise offers a unique set of features and does not even include some of the
features of the less expensive SoundSpa Premier model. The Sunrise model does not offer dual alarms, atomic time
adjustment or temperature measurement. The objective of the Sunrise model is to focus on its control of
light. You connect your own lamp to it and the unit will use it to simulate a sunrise in your room to wake you
gently. You can still use nature sounds to wake you too. As your alarm time approaches the unit will begin to
gradually increase the brightness of your lamp. The unit also offer a wireless dimmer control for your lamp. Now we
are getting up in price, as this unit retails for $49.99.
The two SoundSpa Fusion models have the same feature set except that one comes with the
second generation iPod Nano color scheme. The differentiating feature set of these units are to do with
integrating an iPod dock. Superior speakers have also been introduced. Now you can use the unit as
external speakers for your iPod as well as listening to your iPod when falling asleep or instead of an alarm.
This unit also offers a radio, six nature sounds and dual alarms. One of the nicest units in the Homedics SoundSpa
line, it retails for $59.99. Click here for more information!
The top-of-the-range SoundSpa with iPod Dock includes multiple adaptors to fit various iPod
models. It also has the best speakers using bass reflex technology. It also features dual alarms and a time
projector (which the Fusion doesn't have). This machine is the top of the line with the iPod docking station, it
has it all - Retail price of $79.99.
All prices may vary. Make sure you buy the one that makes the most sense to you. If you are looking for just a
sound machine, and don't need all the bells and whistles then the SoundSpa 2000 is the best route. On the other
hand, if you are a technophile then definately take a good look at the SoundSpa Fusion. I truly believe that
Homedics has a machine for everyone.
